FTC Disclosure & Affiliate Relationships
Last updated: October 26, 2025
Transparency is at the core of WhichOne. This page explains exactly how we make money and how it affects (or doesn't affect) our recommendations.
How We Make Money
WhichOne participates in affiliate marketing programs with various retailers, including but not limited to:
- Amazon Associates Program
- Home Depot Affiliate Program (via Impact)
- Lowe's Affiliate Program (via Impact)
- Best Buy Affiliate Program (via CJ Affiliate)
- Walmart Affiliate Program (via Rakuten)
When you click on a product link in our extension and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission from the retailer at no extra cost to you. These commissions help us maintain and improve the WhichOne service.
Our Commitment to Unbiased Recommendations
Here's what makes WhichOne different:
- AI-Driven, Not Commission-Driven: Our artificial intelligence analyzes products based purely on quality, value, specifications, and customer reviews—not on which products pay us more.
- No Paid Placements: Brands and retailers cannot pay us to recommend their products over competitors. We do not accept sponsorships or promotional fees.
- Equal Treatment: All retailers in our affiliate network receive the same objective analysis. We do not favor retailers with higher commission rates.
- Transparent Methodology: Our AI uses OpenAI GPT-4 to evaluate products. The algorithm considers price, quality, specifications, customer reviews, and brand reputation—never commission rates.
Amazon Associates Disclosure
WhichOne is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
How Affiliate Commissions Work
When you click on a product link provided by WhichOne:
- You are redirected to the retailer's website (e.g., Amazon, Home Depot)
- Our affiliate tracking code is included in the URL
- If you make a purchase within a specific timeframe (usually 24 hours), we receive a small commission
- The price you pay is exactly the same whether you use our link or go directly to the site
Commission Rates
Typical affiliate commission rates range from 1% to 10% depending on the retailer and product category. These rates do not influence our AI recommendations in any way. Higher commission products are not prioritized.
Your Choice
Using WhichOne is completely free. If you prefer not to support us through affiliate commissions, you can:
- Use our recommendations but navigate to products directly without clicking our links
- Remove tracking parameters from URLs manually
- Use the extension solely for product analysis without making purchases
We believe our AI recommendations provide value regardless of whether you use our affiliate links, and we respect your choice either way.
FTC Compliance
This disclosure is made in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR Part 255: "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising."
We are required by law to disclose our affiliate relationships, and we take this obligation seriously. Any time we provide a link that may result in a commission, we will clearly indicate it.

Bottom Line
We earn affiliate commissions, but they do not influence our AI's recommendations. Our goal is to help you find the best products, not the highest-paying ones.
